Hull SCITT Trainees – Mark Bentham

Hull SCITT is proud to have helped so many talented and committed trainees on their path to becoming outstanding teachers, who play an important role in educating and guiding young people in their most formative years. One of these former trainees is Mark Bentham, teacher at Highlands Primary School in Hull.

I came into the teaching profession with eight years of sales and customer service management experience. Being a father of three children I had very high expectations about what would be involved in training to be a teacher. The School Centred Initial Teacher Training program far exceeded the very high expectations I had when I started the course.

The teachers and mentors that I was privileged to work alongside were of the highest calibre, supporting and challenging myself and the other trainees throughout the course. They helped us develop our skills and grow into Outstanding Teachers ourselves. The personalised and mentally rigorous experience of the course gave me the opportunity to devote a full year to practicing and learning in the classroom. This unique approach gave me an amazing platform to launch my teaching career from. The transition that I made from Trainee to Newly Qualified Teacher was well structured and well implemented.

At every step I have been given high support with high challenge. I cannot speak highly enough of SCITT and the School in which I completed my training.
